Midori's MD Notebooks are thoughtfully designed notebooks from A to Z. Midori writes: "The word 'note' in 'notebook' also means 'to notice something.' Writing, sketching, and drawing are ways people record what they notice in everyday life. And because a notebook is where these observations are collected, we wanted to create one that's always within easy reach."
The MD Notebook is deliberately designed to be simple – so that thoughts, ideas and impressions can effortlessly find their way onto paper.
Instead of a cover, the notebook is wrapped in glassine paper, reminiscent of the dust jackets of old books. You can use the paper to protect your MD Notebook – or remove it and use the notebook on its own, painting or writing on the cover.
Additional layers of paper or stiff covers make many notebooks harder to open and disrupt the writing experience. That's why the MD Notebook has an iconic, open design: The spine is visibly reinforced with a fabric – the so-called "cheesecloth" – which is hidden under the cover in other notebooks. This exposed spine is particularly flexible and ensures that the notebook lies flat and comfortably open – for a pleasant writing experience from start to finish.
